Company History

BS&E Co. Inc. has been serving the construction and industrial sectors of south central California since its inception in 1951. The company has been owned by the Phares family for two generations starting with the originator Glenn Allen Phares in the early 1950’s. At that time the company was heavily anchored in contracting and the sale of construction merchandise to the area contractors. The original name of the company was Bass, Phares and Stubbs. When Glenn purchased the outright ownership in 1952 the name of the company would become BS&E Co. Inc.  standing for Builders Supply and Equipment Company.

In 1997 the original rental building at the Kentucky St. branch was demolished as the new office had already been finished.

In 1997 BS&E decided to change its logo to include a new moniker 'BSE Rents'.  To incorporate a more modern look and to add a rental reference to our logo, as BS&E does not.

In 2002 BS&E continues to operate locally and currently has six locations.  BS&E's success has been and will continue to be from dedicating itself to its original goals of providing good product and service.  BS&E does it's best  to provide a pleasant atmosphere to do business as well as work, and strives to meet every customer's needs

BS&E also works to help the local communities.  We have donated equipment to a variety of organizations who work to improve our communities, like several airless paint sprayers for graffiti removal and neighborhood clean up projects.
